Prologue

Prologue

Franklin frowned at the documents before him. He knew that signing these papers was the only way to guarantee their safety. He knew that The Subject would not be happy. Franklin’s assistant fidgeted nervously in her chair.

Franklin sighed. “Well it was inevitable. Let’s proceed shall we?”

His assistant let out a breath, relieved by his words. She handed him his pen. And franklin grasped the pen and waited as a tentacle like appendage came from it and attached to his arm. He winced as it dug into his arm. He took one last look around this large room that once was the space he prided himself in.

The polished mahogany desk with the sole picture of a little girl and his nameplate. The walls to his right which displayed his numerous awards and other symbols of his vast achievements. The stark black door, near his desk, that on both sides said Director in golden print, but led to a wall. He gave a slight chuckle at that. The wall to his left exhibited shelves upon shelves of books all speaking of quantum physics, human anatomy, legalities pertaining to his studies, and his own personal journals.

He looked to the papers hoping that they and all the problems swirling around them would just disappear. Knowing they wouldn’t he began to write. He wrote and the pen drained his blood and using it as ink wrote the order for the commencement of the procedure and finally his signature of approval filled in blood.

Irreversible he thought. Fitting for what he was ordaining to be done in the facility that had been built by his predecessors.

When he finished he detached the pen and looked towards the ceiling and said under his breath “May God forgive me the atrocities I have performed against Him as well as the ones I will perform against this man.”

He stood and left, his assistant grabbing the documents and trailing behind him.

  1. you say to ignore grammar errors... but you've really done a much better job with mechanics! we'll let your publisher worry about the particulars, eh?
